Zoe-perry
Perry was born to actor Laurie Metcalf, and Jeff Perry. In the ABC sitcom Roseanne (as shown in flashback), her mother portrayed Jackie Harris in two of Perry's initial TV roles. Her parents did not allow her to begin acting in front of her family until adulthood, as they feared the strain it might result in. Perry says she didn't want to perform in highschool but decided to start performing as a form of social interaction during her time at Northwestern University when she switched to it from Boston University. Perry following her graduation from Boston University moved into New York in search of TV roles. Perry was able to land small roles on TV shows like Law & Order: Criminal Intent. But, her home-sickness drove her to California to find theater work. She performed on Broadway as a part of The Other Place with her mother in the year 2013. In 2015, she was a part of her father as well as Kevin McKidd in Eugene O'Neill's Pulitzer Prize-winning play Anna Christie in the Odyssey Theatre Ensemble in West Los Angeles. Perry was in nine episodes of the ABC thriller The Family in 2016. In 2017, Perry had a role on ABC's political thriller Scandal along with her father. In the same year, she played a young version of Mary Cooper on Young Sheldon (a CBS spinoff The Big Bang Theory) as her mother in a youthful version. She was cast in the role despite her close family connection to the character.
